DESCRIPTION: Sarah Ruhl’s Eurydice reimagines the classic myth of Orpheus through the eyes of its heroine. Dying too young on her wedding day, Eurydice must journey to the underworld, where she reunites with her father and struggles to remember her lost love.
There are roles available for actors ages 16+. The director is specifically seeking new and interesting performances, so please consider submitting if you’ve got an interesting perspective to share!
AUDITIONS: VIDEO SUBMISSIONS ARE DUE BY MIDNIGHT ON AUGUST 28TH.
- Please select and prepare a monologue that reflects the character you’re most interested in playing. If you’re open to multiple casting options, please still pick and cater your choice to one! (You’ll have the opportunity to indicate roles you’re interested in playing when you complete the audition form submission.)
- Please self-tape your monologue. There is an option for those who'd like to upload their video directly, and there's an option for those who'd prefer to link it.

AVAILABLE CHARACTERS:
-Eurydice - Smart, curious, honest. Eurydice navigates confusion and loss through the course of the story. She will be played female, 20s/30s. Actors should be at least 18.
-Orpheus - Obsessive and distracted. Orpheus is lost in his music and recklessly in love. He’s paralyzed by his loss, but trying his best. He will be played male, 20s/30s. Actors should be at least 18.
-The Father - Protective and stubborn. He’s a wise and grounding force for Eurydice as she navigates her reality after her death. He’ll likely be played male (age 40+), but we may play the role absent gender depending on the actor. Actors should be at least 18.
-The Nasty, Interesting Man/Lord of the Underworld - A manipulative, arrogant villain. He lures Eurydice into continued suffering. He’ll likely be played male, but we may play the role absent gender depending on the actor. Age is flexible, given the nature of the character. Actors should be at least 18.
-Big Stone - The stones reflect a Greek chorus. They lack empathy for what the characters are going through and provide some biting comic relief. Any gender. Actors should be at least 16.
-Little Stone - The stones reflect a Greek chorus. They lack empathy for what the characters are going through and provide some biting comic relief. Any gender. Actors should be at least 16.
-Loud Stone - The stones reflect a Greek chorus. They lack empathy for what the characters are going through and provide some biting comic relief. Any gender. Actors should be at least 16.
This production has no ensemble; there are only these seven roles available.

-This production is amateur in nature and no pay is offered.
-There are no participation costs for those who may be cast.
