In the rubble of the London Blitz of World War II, Alice Spencer’s budding teen life is turned upside down, and she and her dear friend Alfred are forced to take shelter in an underground tube station. When the ailing Alfred is quarantined, Alice encourages him to escape with her into their cherished book and journey down the rabbit hole to Wonderland.

PRODUCTION DESCRIPTION:
For this production, our goal is to create two complete, distinct casts who will each perform on separate weekends. Alice by Heart is a beautiful story, and we are excited at the prospect of telling it in two separate ways. With this plan in mind, we intend for each cast to have ten actors and follow the original doubling (or more, in some cases); these choices were made very particularly in that original production, and we want to honor them while putting our own spin on the show.
We are currently referring to these two distinct casts as CAST 1 and CAST 2. They will rehearse together, which will mean that every actor has a partner to work alongside throughout this process. CAST 1 will perform August 14th and 15th and CAST 2 will perform on August 21st and 22nd.
With all of this information in mind, we are encouraging actors to make strong choices in their audition pieces. We are not looking to recreate the original performers; instead, we want to see unique, compelling performances that can help us shape these two distinct portrayals.
As with all ACT I productions, this performance is amateur in nature and no pay is offered. There is no fee to participate if cast.

Before completing this form, please record a video containing a song and monologue. There is no maximum length for either, but please do not select anything from Alice by Heart. (We also caution against selecting a monologue from another adaptation of Alice in Wonderland, as this will likely be a common choice.)
Please plan to attend in-person on April 25th for a dance/movement audition. While not every character will have heavy dance expectations, most will need to move, and we'd like to see that in action as we make our decisions. If you cannot attend on April 25th, you're welcome to submit a video of previous dance experience with your audition form.

REHEARSAL INFORMATION:
Rehearsals will occur on Mondays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. Mondays and Thursdays will run from 6:30-8:30. Saturdays will run from 10 or 11am until 1pm. We will finalize times once we've finished casting.

TECH WEEK (CAST 1):
August 10th-15th, performances August 14 and 15
TECH WEEK (CAST 2):
August 17th-22nd, performances August 21 and 22
All rehearsals and performances will take place at ACT I Studio.
*Please note: we are more than capable of working around vacation plans, particularly since we will have built-in stand-ins given our two casts. If you will regularly miss rehearsal, it may impact casting. This show is complicated, and we'll want to have our cast present as often as possible when called.
