AUDITION: Willy Wonka KIDS

  • The Grand Theatre 7 North Wall Street Cartersville, GA, 30120 United States (map)

Roald Dahl’s Willy Wonka KIDS follows enigmatic candy manufacturer Willy Wonka as he stages a contest by hiding golden tickets in five of his scrumptious candy bars. Whomever comes up with these tickets will win a free tour of the Wonka factory, as well as a lifetime supply of candy. Four of the five winning children are insufferable brats, but the fifth is a likeable young lad named Charlie Bucket, who takes the tour in the company of his equally amiable grandfather. The children must learn to follow Mr. Wonka’s rules in the factory — or suffer the consequences.

The second audition opportunity was moved to March 12th 6:30-8:30pm. Alternatively, children may submit a video audition by 8:30pm on the 12th. Those auditioning should prepare the verse and chorus of an age-appropriate Broadway/Disney song. They will only be given 90 seconds to perform to ensure that we have enough time, so please plan accordingly. The audition will also include a choreography combination that they’ll learn on site and cold readings from the script; they do not need to prepare for either of these.

We intend to cast no more than 35 performers. See below for a note about auditions.

Rehearsal: Rehearsals will occur Saturdays from 2-4pm.

Performances: Tech Week: April 22-25, Performances: April 26 and 27 at 7pm

*A Note About Auditions

Auditions are not a place of judgment, and we are not equipped or qualified to determine whether or not someone is talented. Auditions are the actor’s opportunity to offer their gifts. We then have to decide how best to use them…or if we have a place for them at all.

While we’d love to cast every single person who comes out for our shows, we’re unable to do so. It’s heartbreaking! Please help everyone involved by preparing your auditioner for the possibility that we might not have a place for them this time. We often have twice as many auditions as we have roles to fill, and this unfortunately means having to cut some immensely talented people.

Please help us out by preparing your young actor before they come to auditions. If you do not believe they can handle possibly being cut from the show, we ask that you wait a bit longer before encouraging them to try out.

Thank you so much!
